I also have a helper hold onto the bottom of the ladder to stabilize it.
Stepping from ladder to roof.
To climb onto the roof you want to run the top of the ladder past the roof so it extends far enough that you can hold on when you step on and off.
I d suggest it should be at least 3 feet past the edge of your gutter and 4 feet is better.
The next thing on your to do list would be to take the ladder up to the roof and start setting it up.
Remember it should extend at least 3 feet above the roof s edge.
The ladder should be long enough to extend 3 feet but not more than 5 feet above the roof s edge.
To begin the setup process at first you have to place the pivit where you would like the bottom leg of the ladder to go.
You can attach a gripper at the bottom of your pivit to make sure it does not slip when you are on the ladder.
Instead hold onto the ladder with both hands and step around the ladder and onto the roof.
When you get off the roof take the same approach holding onto the ladder and stepping around it instead of over the top.
Drive one 3 inch nail into.
