When applying the new shingles each shingle course will be covered by a step flashing.
There are two simple rules to follow.
Step 1 install the underlayment metal drip edges and any eaves flashing required by code.
Roof planes that butt against vertical walls at the end of the shingle course are protected by metal step flashing at least 125 mm high and 125 mm wide 5 high and 5 wide.
Install underlayment and caulk vent stacks with roof sealant to make your plumbing vents leak proof.

The next one goes on the low side.
Weave and cut the valley on the highest side of the roof.
Apply one layer of underlayment over the metal drip at the eaves.
When the felt is secured you can start laying the metal shingles.
Then work your way up to the top or center of the roof.
The shingles need to be offset in every space so there are no valleys or blank spaces where a leak will start.
Install step and dormer flashing.
Trim off excess shingles on roof edges.
Be careful to drive nails straight rather than angled.
Install your starter row of shingles at the bottom of your roof making sure to follow the manufacturer s instructions to install shingles.
Again start at the bottom and nail the shingles into place.
Do the same with the next shingle continuing this step until you get to the far edge of the ridge.
