4 x 4 ft.
Steel sheet sizes.
Factors to consider with sheet metal sizes.
Generally sheet metal is considered anything thinner than about 0 25.
2 x 4 ft.
The manufacturers standard gage provides the thicknesses for standard steel galvanized steel and stainless steel.
Per inch of width sheet circlediameter x diameter x thickness x 228 lbs.
Each platethickness x width x length x 2836 lbs.
Select size 1 x 2 ft.
Beyond 0 25 the material is referred to as plate metal.
Gauge or gage sizes are numbers that indicate the thickness of a piece of sheet metal with a higher number referring to a thinner sheet.
1 x 4 ft.
2 x 2 ft.
The equivalent thicknesses differ for each gauge size standard which were developed based on the weight of the sheet for a given material.
4 x 10 ft.
For an identical application in brass alloys which are softer materials we recommend to specify nothing less than 18 or 16 gauge 0 050 or 0 060 1 20 mm or 1 50 mm.
If the plain metal sheet is glued to a solid substrate such as steel heavy plywood or particle board then 20 gauge 0 040 or 1 00 mm stainless steel is sufficient.

And the thinnest sheets of metal are referred to as foil.
