Solar Roof Conduit

In a solar power system without conduit your outdoor wires could get wet eventually corrode and your pv system would likely suffer extensive and expensive damage.

Never use smaller conduit than what is spec d in your plans. Conduit runs are hidden under the panels and inside attics not run over the top of the roof. Basically conduit installation protects the wires running through your walls underground on your roof or down the side of your house. Begin conduit about 6 inches above the finished insulation depth directly below the designated array location in the attic.

A note on conduit. Of space below the roof deck and is easily accessible for the future solar installer. The nec national electric code requires solar wiring to be transitioned to conduit before leaving the array. We have literally hundreds of good photos.

You can use larger conduit than specified if necessary to ease the conductors in.

Ensure the conduit location in the attic provides at least 18 in.
